Job summary

S & D Trade Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a CNC Multi Spindle Lathe Turner in Standish, Wigan. The role involves setting and operating multi spindle CNC turning machines to produce precision components, working from engineering drawings and tolerances, and ensuring tooling, work holding and inspection are met to quality standards.

The position offers a 38-hour week with overtime at time and a half; 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, and training opportunities.

Job description

We are recruiting for a CNC Multi Spindle Lathe Turner to join an established manufacturing business based in Standish, Wigan.

This is a hands on role within a busy Engineering and Manufacturing environment, setting and operating multi spindle CNC turning machines to produce precision machined components. You will be working from engineering drawings and specified tolerances, taking responsibility for machine setting, tooling and component quality throughout production.

The role would suit an experienced CNC Turner with a strong background in multi spindle machining, who is confident setting machinery, working with tooling and work holding and carrying out their own component inspection.

Salary: £17.00 per hour / £33,592 per annum. Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 7:30am to 11:30am. Overtime: Available Monday to Friday, paid at time and a half (£25.50 per hour).

CNC Multi Spindle Lathe Turner:

• Set and operate multi spindle CNC turning machines to produce precision machined components.
• Manufacture components from engineering drawings, working accurately to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Carry out first off and in process inspection using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
• Select and set appropriate tooling, fixtures and work holding equipment for individual machining requirements.
• Monitor component accuracy throughout production and make tooling or machine adjustments where required.
• Load and prove out CNC programmes prior to production.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately in line with ISO 9001 procedures.

CNC Multi Spindle Lathe Turner:

• Previous experience setting and operating multi spindle CNC turning machines.
• Strong understanding of multi spindle CNC turning and machine setting.
• Confident reading engineering drawings and working to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Good practical knowledge of tooling, fixtures and work holding.
• Competent using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
• Experience producing first off components and carrying out in process inspection.
• Fanuc control experience would be advantageous.
• Experience machining a range of materials including exotic alloys, aluminium, stainless steels and steels would be advantageous.
• Accurate and methodical approach with strong attention to component quality.
