Job summary

Marble Talent Group Ltd recruiting an experienced CNC Miller Setter/Operator for a precision engineering business in the UK. You will set and run 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex components to tight tolerances, interpreting detailed drawings and applying GD&T.

The role requires experience with Heidenhain controls, on-machine programming, tooling selection and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment. A proactive team player focused on quality is essential.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Experience with 5-axis machinery.
• Competent using Heidenhain control systems.
• Basic on-machine programming and editing existing programmes.
• Strong tooling, workholding and machining process knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including GD&T.
• Proficient with precision measuring/inspection equipment.
• Quality-focused with tight tolerance discipline.
• Reliable, motivated team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture complex, precision-engineered components.
• Interpret detailed engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
• Operate Heidenhain control systems, including basic on-machine programming and modifying existing programmes.
• Select, prepare and set tooling using heat-shrink systems and collet chucks.
• Set up workholding including vices, chucks and fixtures.
• Use precision measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, bore micrometers, height gauges, plug gauges, screw gauges).
• Carry out in-process inspections and quality checks to ensure components meet specs and tight tolerances.
• Maintain high workmanship and accuracy standards.
• Work with colleagues to meet production schedules and deadlines.
• Assist with overtime and urgent production requirements when necessary.

Working within a modern manufacturing environment equipped with advanced CNC machining technology, you will be responsible for setting and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision components to exacting tolerances and quality standards.

Essential Requirements

• Ideally, at least 3 years' experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Experience setting and operating 5-axis machinery.
• Competent using Heidenhain control systems.
• Basic on-machine programming skills and the ability to adjust existing programmes.
• Strong understanding of tooling, workholding and machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Confident using a range of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• A quality-focused approach with the ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
• A reliable, motivated team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Desirable: Previous experience operating Hermle 5-axis CNC machining centres
