Job summary

People Solutions is partnering with a precision engineering client in Skelmersdale to recruit a CNC Milling Operative. You will program, set and operate a CNC milling machine to produce components from engineering drawings in a fast-paced workshop.

Responsibilities

• Set, operate and adjust CNC machines to produce components from drawings.
• Collaborate with Production Manager to prioritise jobs and meet targets.
• Liaise with Engineers and Drawing Office on methods, tolerances and design intent.
• Design and manufacture fixtures and work-holding solutions.
• Select and change cutting tools with suppliers for availability and performance.
• Perform first-off, in-process and final checks and raise quality issues.
• Maintain machine uptime and follow schedules; promote safe practices.
• Attend SQPD meetings and contribute to safety and continuous improvement.

CNC Milling Operative - Skelmersdale

People Solutionsare currently recruiting for aCNC Milling Operativeto join our well-established client based inSkelmersdale.

You will be responsible for programming, setting and operating a CNC milling machine, machining a variety of products.

Shift to start:

• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
• Flexible working hours between 07:00 and 16:30

Shift will eventually change to:

• Rotating weekly: Monday to Friday 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00

Candidates must be able to work both shift patterns to be considered for the role

Rates of Pay:

£40,000 per annum

Day-to-Day Duties:

Your duties as a CNC Milling Operative will be:

• Set, operate, and adjust CNC machines to produce components in line with engineering drawings and production requirements.
• Work closely with the Production Manager to prioritise jobs, meet daily production targets, and support the smooth running of the department.
• Liaise directly with Engineers and the Drawing Office to clarify machining methods, tolerances, and design intent.
• Design, set up, and manufacture fixtures and work-holding solutions to support efficient and repeatable machining processes.
• Select, prepare, and change cutting tools, working with tooling suppliers to ensure tooling availability and optimal tool performance.
• Carry out first-off, in-process, and final checks using appropriate measuring equipment, acting as the first point of contact for quality issues.
• Escalate non-conformances to Quality Inspectors and support corrective actions as required.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of machines, ensuring work schedules are achieved and downtime is minimised.
• Attend daily SQPD meetings and contribute to discussions on safety, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Follow all site health and safety procedures, maintain a clean and organised work area, and actively promote safe working practices and improvement ideas.
