Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate milling machines in Sheffield. The role focuses on producing precision components to the production plan while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

You will follow route cards, read engineering drawings, load NC programs, and use DTI for precise setups. The position includes shift allowances and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of Fanuc, Heidenhain and Siemens controls is advantageous.
• Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines and follow route card instructions and drawings.
• Load correct NC programs and tooling for parts machined.
• Use DTI for probing and setting up jobs; adjust tool offsets as needed.
• Record work in SFDC system and report any errors to supervisor.
• Perform self-inspection and address non-conformances; undertake other tasks as required.
