Job summary

Progress Rail Services UK is recruiting 3 CNC Machinists to operate CNC milling machines in Sheffield. You will produce machined components to the production plan, safely and efficiently, within schedule and quality standards.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling, and setting up with DTI and NC programs. Shift patterns include 3 or 2 shifts, with days, afternoons or nights available, based in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and follow SOPs.
  • Awareness of safety and quality standards (ISO 9001).

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines.
  • Follow route cards and read engineering drawings.
  • Set up machines and load NC programs and tooling.
  • Inspect finished parts and record measurements.
  • Record works in the SFDC system and report issues.

CNC MACHINIST x3 - MILLING

SHEFFIELD

VARIOUS SHIFT PATTERNS AVAILABLE INCLUDING:

3 Shifts:

Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 13:40 & Friday 06:00 – 13:00

Afters: Monday to Thursday, 13:35 – 21:15 & Friday 12:55 – 19:55

Nights: Monday to Thursday, 21:10 – 06:05

or

2 Shifts:

Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 15:15

Afters: Monday to Thursday, 15:00 – 00:30

Progress Rail Services UK is looking to recruit 3 CNC Machinists to operate CNC Milling Machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality.


THE ROLE:
As a CNC Machinist you will be required to:

  • Operate CNC milling machines.
  • Accurately follow route card instructions SOP and reading of engineering drawings.
  • Use of Dial test indicator (DTI) clock for probing and setting up the job.
  • Identify and load the correct NC program and tooling for the parts to be machined.
  • Use of overhead cranes will be required. Crane training would be an advantage, but training will be provided.
  • Inspect products either on completion of machining or as a pre-machining or in process check as specified in the manufacturing instruction. This may involve the use of conventional measurement techniques using gauges or instruments and templates.
  • Carry out required machine parameter changes associated with the set up.
  • Test/dry run new or modified programs using appropriate machine functions and making required adjustments to machine and tool offsets to achieve the required size.
  • Use the SFDC system to record both direct and indirect works in line with the Company’s procedures.
  • Report possible or known errors in manufacturing instruction or other associated documentation to the Supervisor or Team leader
  • Undertake any other task within the machine shop workflow when management requires.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving non - conformance issues.


THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal CNC Machinist:

  • Previous experience should include manufacturing industry, preferably in a medium to heavy environment.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Heidenheim, and Siemens would be an advantage.
  • Ability to reading engineering drawings
  • Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001)
