Job summary

Kinetic plc in Chesterfield, England, invites applications for a CNC Miller/CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator. You’ll program, set and operate CNC Mill‑Turn machines to produce precision components to customer specs in a hands‑on role.

Read engineering drawings, edit and prove programs, perform in‑process inspections with micrometers and verniers, and maintain accurate production records. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and experience with Fanuc or Heidenhain controls are desirable.

The Role as CNC Miller/CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator:

You’ll be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC Mill Turn machinery, producing precision-engineered components to customer specifications. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and can work independently to deliver high standards.

Key Duties CNC Miller/CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator:

• Programming, setting and operating CNC Millturn machinery
• Producing precision components from a variety of materials including steels and aluminium alloys.
• Editing and proving CNC programs where required.
• Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Conducting in-process inspection and quality checks.
• Using micrometres, verniers and other measuring equipment to verify dimensions.
• Ensuring components meet customer and quality requirements.
• Maintaining accurate production and inspection records.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the machine shop.
• Adhering to Health & Safety and quality management procedures at all times.

What You’re Looking For a CNC Miller/CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator with:

• Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC machine tools.
• Knowledge of Fanuc or Heidenhain controlled machinery.
• Experience within a precision engineering or subcontract machining environment.
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Strong inspection and measurement skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
• Positive attitude and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Desirable

• Experience of Mill/Turn machining centres.
• Multi-machine operating experience.
• Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience working to tight tolerances and complex geometries.
• Familiarity with ISO quality standards and procedures.
