Job summary

PLANET RECRUITMENT SERVICES LTD is seeking a skilled CNC Miller/Programmer/Setter Operator for a permanent role in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will program, set and operate CNC milling machines with Heidenhain controls, including 3-, 4- and 5-axis machines, to produce high-precision components.

Applicants should have substantial experience in CNC machining (ideally 5+ years), with the ability to read engineering drawings, set tooling and inspect own work to ensure

• Strong experience with Heidenhain controls.

• Ideally 5+ years' experience within CNC machining.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and inspect/measure own work.
• Experience with Doosan, Matsuura or Mazak machines would be advantageous.
• Fanuc experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Apprenticeship or relevant engineering background preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently.

CNC Miller / Programmer / Setter Operator

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Salary: £20.00 - £23.00 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week
Job Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller / Programmer / Setter Operator to join a well-established engineering business based in Abingdon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC professional with strong Heidenhain experience and a background in 3, 4 and 5-axis milling. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines, producing high-quality components to tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Working with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machines
• Programming directly at the machine using Heidenhain controls

Requirements

• Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Strong experience with Heidenhain controls
• Experience with 5-axis milling
• Ideally 5+ years' experience within CNC machining
• Experience machining large components, up to approximately 2.5 metres
• Ability to work to tight tolerances
• Confident reading engineering drawings
• Good understanding of inspection and measurement equipment
• Experience with Doosan, Matsuura or Mazak machines would be advantageous
• Fanuc experience would be beneficial but is not essential
• Apprenticeship or relevant engineering background preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently
