Job summary

Nottingham-based CNC Miller & Programmer role offering 39 hours per week with rotating morning and afternoon shifts. Salary £38,532 per annum (£19 per hour) and a strong emphasis on precision in a busy, quality-driven environment.

You will program, set and operate CNC milling machines, read engineering drawings, and support continuous improvement while maintaining safe working conditions. Closing date 8 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and a quality-focus approach.
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC milling machines
• Create, edit and optimize CNC programmes to improve machining efficiency
• Manufacture one off and batch components from engineering drawings
• Select the correct tooling, fixtures and workholding for each job
• Carry out tool changes and make machine offsets where required
• Inspect finished components using a range of measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and height gauges
• Complete first off inspections and ensure components meet quality standards
• Identify process improvements to reduce cycle times and increase productivity
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment

About you:

Experience with CAD/CAM software and machine controls such as Haas, Hurco, Mazak, Fanuc or Matsuura would be highly advantegous, as would an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
