Job summary

Ambitek Limited is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Engineer in the Manchester area to set and operate 3, 4 and 5 axis vertical milling machines. You will also edit CNC programmes when needed and ensure first-off approvals are achieved.

You will report to the Machine Shop Team Leader and be responsible for producing quality parts on time while maintaining strict quality standards and tooling readiness. Training and development opportunities are available within a busy manufacturing

Qualifications

• Completed engineering apprenticeship.
• Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines (3, 4 and 5 axis).
• Experience with Fanuc controls, or Mazak.
• Able to edit programmes at the machine.
• Good understanding of engineering practices and machining methods.
• Basic computer skills, comfortable with directory structures and network drives.
• Logical approach to problem solving with a good sense of urgency and a dedicated attitude.
• Mazak control experience.
• Familiarity with CMM software.

Responsibilities

• Set and prove out jobs on 3, 4 and 5 axis vertical milling machines, including getting a first-off approved.
• Run machines after setting, maintaining quality throughout the production run.
• Edit CNC programmes where required.
• Make sure tooling, fixtures and job information are prepared and available when needed.
• Inspect finished parts for drawing compliance using CNC and manual CMM machines.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance.
• Run more than one machine where possible.
• Raise engineering issues with Team Leaders, Production Planning, Maintenance and Engineering.
• Help solve problems and suggest manufacturing and methods improvements.
• Work safely and follow all H&S policies, and support 5S and TPM in the machine shop.

The salary includes shift allowance and is dependent on skills, experience, and knowledge - starting from 30k - 44K
