Job summary

Holt Engineering Ltd in Poole is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator to join our precision engineering team. You will set and operate CNC milling machines from engineering drawings, select tooling, prove out programmes and ensure parts meet exact tolerances.

The role requires a solid background in Mazatrol controls, reading engineering drawings, and a disciplined approach to quality, timekeeping and documentation.

  • Manufacture components to drawings and tolerances; perform first-off inspection.
  • Record set/run times and maintain production documentation.
  • Maintain tooling and gauging to required standards and support Lean processes.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineers to maximise productivity.
  • Uphold health, safety and environmental standards.

Are you an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator with a strong understanding of CNC milling, engineering drawings and setting machines to produce accurate components?

This is an opportunity to join a global specialist engineering business producing highly engineered products used across a range of important industries. The role is suited to someone who takes pride in producing quality work, can work logically through machining requirements and is comfortable working to production targets.

Role overview

As a CNC Miller Setter Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture components accurately and efficiently, working from engineering drawings and set-up information. You will be responsible for producing components to the required tolerances and quality standards, carrying out your own first-off inspection and maintaining accurate production and quality documentation.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and manufacturing requirements.
  • Select the correct tooling and work-holding devices from tool sheets.
  • Set CNC milling machines using set-up sheets and provide feedback where amendments are required.
  • Prove out both proven and unproven CNC programmes.
  • Manufacture components to the correct drawing specifications and tolerances.
  • Carry out your own first-off inspection.
  • Record set and run times and provide production feedback.
  • Maintain production targets and support efficient machining processes.
  • Complete quality and digital production documentation.
  • Maintain tooling and gauging to the required standard.
  • Follow company procedures and Lean principles.
  • Work closely with Production Engineers where required to maximise productivity.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental responsibility.
