Job summary

Ishida in Birmingham, United Kingdom, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to coordinate the manufacture of machined parts using CNC milling machines and lathes. You will ensure programming and maintenance meet high standards and deadlines.

Ideal candidates will show fault finding, CAD/CAM experience, and the ability to read engineering drawings, while maintaining health and safety and ISO standards across the factory. A collaborative, proactive approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in CNC milling and lathe work to exacting tolerances.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret CAM data.
• Strong fault finding, problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate manufacture of machined parts on time and to specification.
• Ensure CNC machines are programmed and maintained to a high standard.
• Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and ISO standards.
• Achieve KPI targets for RFT, efficiency, cost and service.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
• Meet deadlines set by Machine Shop Team Leader.
• Collaborate with the machine shop team and other departments.
• Report Health & Safety issues to the Team Leader.
• Maintain high right-first-time, efficiency and service levels.
• Provide support to team members as required.

Job description

Main Purpose of the role

To co-ordinate timely manufacture of machined parts using C.N.C, manual milling machines and lathes on a daily basis to meet agreed deadlines for production. To Ensure C.N.C machines are programmed and maintained to a high standard.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Responsibility for manufacture of machined parts on-time and to the correct specification and quality standards.
2. To adhere to UK Health and Safety Regulations and safe working practices
3. To adhere to Ishida’s ISO standards, factory rules and HR policies.
4. Ensure KPI targets for RFT, efficiency, cost and service are consistently achieved.
5. To make positive contribution to continuous improvement activities.
6. To adhere to all deadlines and targets set by Machine Shop Team Leader
7. Establish good working relationship with the machine shop team and key members of all Departments.
8. Reporting of Health & Safety issues / near misses to Machine Shop Team Leader.
9. Ensuring high standards of right first time, efficiency and service level are consistently achieved.
10. Provide fast resolution to any manufacturing issues identified and ensure good levels of communication of operations team.
11. Provide positive support to team members as required.

To be successful in the role you must have excellent standards of efficient and effective machining / engineering work, fault finding, good communication skills, health & safety, time management, technical ability, good understanding of machining parts, CNC milling and lathe work and the ability to work unsupervised to a high standard and in a safe manner, understanding of engineering drawings and CAD/CAM experience.
