Job summary

Mane Contract Services is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist Turner to set, operate and maintain high-precision CNC turning machines in an R&D oriented shop. The role involves turning and milling expertise, programming, and mentoring apprentices while delivering high-value, low-volume parts.

You will work with Heidenhain, Fanuc and Siemens controls, write and edit G-code, optimize tooling, and participate in shop briefings to drive continuous improvement and ensure quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum machining experience.
• Experience of 6 Sigma and lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
• Programming, set up, and running of CNC lathes.
• Edit CNC programs, set fixtures and tooling; prove out and operate CNC machines for R&D and production parts.
• Making work offsets, tooling and program adjustments as required.
• Working to specifications, procedures and engineering drawings.
• Inspecting produced parts using measuring instruments and hand gauges; interpret CMM results.
• Supporting development of machining processes and tooling/fixture design.
• Liaising with engineering to improve machining methods; use problem solving techniques for machining issues.
• Prioritising workload to meet deliverable timelines.
• Experience of 6S and lean manufacturing tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are recruiting a CNC Machinist Turner who will set, operate and maintain high precision CNC Turning machines in a fast paced, R&D oriented shop. The ideal candidate will bring advanced turning and milling expertise whilst also being comfortable on multi axis milling centres. They will design machining processes, select and optimize tooling, write G code, and oversee production of high value, low volume parts and one offs. Participates in daily shop briefings to discuss objectives, issues, and improvement ideas. The role includes mentoring apprentices, collaborating closely with engineering and tooling suppliers, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
