Job summary

Siemens Energy in Lincoln seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machines, read engineering drawings, and produce precision parts in a manufacturing environment.

You will inspect finished parts, document production data, and work with cross-functional teams to solve machining issues, while maintaining safety and clean work practices in a diverse global company.

Qualifications

  • Completed apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 in relevant engineering field or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, horizontal borers, grinders).
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and measurement accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Measure and visually inspect completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to health and safety procedures.
  • Document and report production data, including quantities and dimensions.

Join our team as a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist, where you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts. You will collaborate closely with the production and engineering teams to ensure that the highest quality standards are met. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining optimal performance and contributing to our commitment to excellence.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to health and safety procedures.
  • Document and report production data, including quantities, dimensions, and any deviations from specifications.
What You Bring
  • Preferably completed a recognized full level 3 apprenticeship. Candidates with an NVQ level 3 or technical certificate in a relevant engineering field will also be considered.
  • Proven experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • A proactive outlook towards work and continuous improvement.
