Job description

Applications are invited for a permanent position of CNC Machinist at our Nuneaton site, reporting to the CNC Team Leader. The successful candidate will work a split double shift and will receive a competitive salary and shift allowance where applicable.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure correct speeds/feeds and optimal machine/operating practices are adopted at all times.
2. Maintain program cycle times consistent with quoted durations and run left and right-hand parts simultaneously when required.
3. Set up components using holding/turn-over fixtures or plates efficiently.
4. Accurately measure tooling and components with micrometers, verniers, etc., as needed.
5. Operate machines to maximum efficiency, optimizing free running and spindle time, especially when managing multiple machines.
6. Focus on continuous improvement, providing feedback to management or CAM programmers for process enhancement.
7. Coordinate with the CNC Team Leader on parts, material block-ups, and support to meet job timelines.
8. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety around machines and work areas.
9. Perform preventative maintenance on operated machines.
10. Assist with other tasks across the Nuneaton site as needed.
11. Read drawings to aid manufacturing processes, which is advantageous.
12. Operate all types of CNC machines with Heidenhain, Siemens, or Mazatrol controllers, demonstrating excellent understanding of machining technology and tolerances.
13. Possess time-served experience in a manufacturing machining environment; tooling is bespoke, not mass production.
14. Be assertive, confident, adaptable, and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
15. Work effectively under pressure, ensuring timely completion of jobs according to customer requirements.
