Job summary

Thorn Baker Construction is recruiting a CNC Operator for its bespoke joinery and interiors division in Northampton. You will join an in-house manufacturing team producing high-quality components for interior projects.

The role requires operating CNC machinery, interpreting drawings and programs, and delivering precise finished parts on schedule within a collaborative environment.

• Previous experience as CNC Operator in joinery/furniture/interior manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machinery in a busy joinery manufacturing environment.
• Set up CNC routers and associated machinery.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists.
• Produce bespoke joinery and interior components to high standards.
• Check dimensions and quality throughout manufacturing process.
• Work from CAD drawings and CNC programmes.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance and report issues.
• Ensure materials are used efficiently and accurately.
• Collaborate with joiners, designers and production team.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded specialist contractor operating across the high-end commercial interiors, retail fit-out, hospitality and bespoke joinery sectors.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced CNC Operator to join their manufacturing team.

The Role

As a CNC Operator, you will play a key role within the company's in-house joinery manufacturing operation, producing high-quality bespoke components for a range of exciting interior and fit-out projects.

You will be responsible for operating CNC machinery, interpreting drawings and programmes, and ensuring all components are manufactured accurately and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating CNC machinery within a busy joinery manufacturing environment
• Setting and operating CNC routers and associated machinery
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and cutting lists
• Producing bespoke joinery and interior components to a high standard
• Checking dimensions and quality throughout the manufacturing process
• Working from CAD drawings and CNC programmes
• Carrying out basic machine maintenance and reporting any issues
• Ensuring materials are used efficiently and accurately
• Working closely with joiners, designers and the wider production team
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Working to project deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a CNC Operator within a joinery, furniture, shopfitting or interior manufacturing environment.

You will be technically minded, have excellent attention to detail and take pride in producing high-quality work.
