Job summary

Theo James Recruitment Ltd is assisting an established engineering business in Naburn to recruit a CNC Machinist. The role focuses on setting and operating CNC mill-turn, milling and turning equipment with Siemens controls preferred.

Programming knowledge is advantageous but not required. You will read engineering drawings, adjust tooling and offsets, and perform quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications.

Job Title: CNC Machinist

Location: Naburn, York

Hourly Rate: £21.00 - £23.00 per hour

Shifts: Monday to Friday, standard days - 39 hours per week

Contract: Initial 3-month contract, with potential to become permanent

Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to manufacture precision-engineered components.

This position is focused on setting and operating rather than programming, although programming knowledge would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and operating a CNC mill-turn machine, CNC milling machine and CNC turning machine.
• Working with Siemens CNC controls, alongside other control systems where applicable.
• Reading engineering drawings, carrying out tool changes, offsets and machine adjustments.
• Conducting quality checks to ensure components meet specifications.
• Maintaining high standards of accuracy, productivity and safety.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this CNC Machinist position, candidates should demonstrate:

• Previous experience setting and operating CNC mill-turn, milling and turning machinery.
• Experience with Siemens controls is strongly preferred, although Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazak or other CNC controls will be considered.
• Ability to confidently set machinery, adjust tooling and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of machining processes, tooling and component inspection.
• CNC programming knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Availability to start at short notice.
