Job summary

Qualifications

  • Recognized Level 3 apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3/technical certificate in engineering.
  • Proven CNC machining experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency with lathes, borers and grinders.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as required.
  • Strong ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and measurement accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Competence with documentation and reporting using computer skills.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • You will set up and operate CNC machinery, ensuring precision in every part produced.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations effectively.
  • Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to guarantee optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to health and safety procedures to promote a safe working environment.
  • Document and report production data, including quantities, dimensions, and any deviations from specifications, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
What You Bring
  • Ideally, you have completed a recognized full level 3 apprenticeship; candidates with an NVQ level 3 or technical certificate in a relevant engineering field will also be considered.
  • Proven experience as a CNC machinist in a manufacturing environment, showcasing your technical skills.
  • Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, borers, and grinders, demonstrating your hands‑on expertise.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as required, adapting to the needs of the production schedule.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications, allowing you to execute tasks with precision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, ensuring the highest quality output.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, fostering a positive work environment.
