Job summary

Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to manufacture high-precision aerospace components. You will set up and operate CNC/NC machines, including 6-axis mill-turn lathes and 6-axis high-speed milling machines, to engineering drawings and specifications.

The role requires an NVQ Level 3 (preferred) and experience reading drawings, plus familiarity with Siemens 840D controls. You must be prepared to work across shifts, including weekends and nights, in a

About the Role:

• Set up and operate CNC and NC machining equipment, including WFL 6-axis mill-turn lathes and Mecof 6-axis high-speed milling machines.
• Manufacture precision aerospace components to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carry out machine set-ups and tool changes.
• Maintain high quality standards and support continuous improvement activities.
• Work safely and efficiently within a structured manufacturing environment.
• Contribute to delivering products used across commercial, business and military aircraft programmes worldwide.

What You'll Bring:

• Knowledge of machining principles and numerical controls fundamentals as well as the ability to read drawings and layouts - Essential
• Time-served apprenticeship in Machining, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline. (NVQ Level 3 preferred) - Essential
• Siemens 840D Control systems experience – Desirable
• Ability to Set and Run various CNC Machines to include some of the following Milling, grinding, Turning and Mill-turn machining centres.
• Manual machining techniques in any of the following, grinding, honing, Deep hole boring, Turning, milling - Desirable
• Able to set own tools
• Understanding of 5s principles
• Good communication and team working skills
• Basic computer and problem solving skills
• Flexibility to work across shifts, including weekends and nights
