Job description

CNC Machine Operator
Scope of Role

The Machine Operative is responsible for understanding machinery functions and setup, along with knowledge of the machine software. They should be capable of inspecting and performing basic maintenance and adjustments to ensure smooth and safe production processes.

Rate of Pay

£30 per hour (13 Weeks probationary period CIS / Umbrella)

Shifts

Friday to Sunday, 07:00 - 17:30

Initial training: 3 weeks on the day shift (39 hrs, Monday to Thursday, 7am - 5pm)

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Carry out CNC operations according to instructions and documentation.
  2. Ensure compliance with policies, specifications, regulations, procedures, and work instructions.
  3. Check equipment functionality, record defects, and notify supervisors.
  4. Report defects to the Maintenance Department.
  5. Perform program, tooling, dimensional checks, and inspections as needed.
  6. Maintain traceability throughout the machining process.
  7. Complete production records during work.
  8. Maintain quality control and inspect parts against drawings, making adjustments or tool changes as necessary.
  9. Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
Authorities, Interface, Reporting, and Supervision
  • Line report to the Machine Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors and Chargehands.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
  • Work safely, taking care of own and others' health and safety.
  • Follow all training and adhere to HSEQ policies.
  • Report accidents, incidents, near misses, defects, and non-conformities.
  • Maintain records and traceability throughout fabrication.
  • Wear and maintain PPE/RPE.
  • Participate in risk assessments and follow safety controls.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Meet targets and complete jobs safely and tidily.
  • Respect for current H&S requirements.
  • Teamwork and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
