Job summary

Masstemps is seeking an experienced Laser Operator to join a busy manufacturing operation near the Wednesbury area. You will set and run Bodor and TRUMPF CNC laser cutters, reading drawings and job sheets to produce components to specification.

Load materials, select programmes and adjust settings while monitoring quality and waste. Inspect parts with basic measuring tools and report issues to supervision as needed. This role requires reliability, independence and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Previous experience setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines.
• Bodor and/or TRUMPF laser experience is highly desirable, with both preferred.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience with different material types and thicknesses in sheet-metal fabrication.
• Comfortable making basic machine setting and parameter adjustments.
• Experience carrying out quality checks with verniers, micrometers or similar equipment.
• Good understanding of safe working practices in manufacturing.
• Reliable, practical and able to work independently or in a team.
• Experience with CNC machinery, press brakes, guillotines or other sheet-metal equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate Bodor and TRUMPF CNC laser cutting machines to produce components to customer specifications.
• Prepare machines for production, including loading materials, selecting programmes, tooling and machine settings.
• Read and work from engineering drawings, job sheets and production specifications.
• Load and select the correct CNC programmes and make basic adjustments to cutting parameters and machine settings where required.
• Monitor the laser cutting process, making adjustments where necessary to maintain quality and minimise waste.
• Inspect finished components using basic measuring equipment to ensure they meet drawing and specification requirements.
• Identify and report machine issues, tooling problems or quality defects to the relevant supervisor or maintenance team.
