Job summary

SG Instruments Ltd is hiring a CMM Inspector to perform in-process and final inspections using CMM equipment and MCOSMOS. You will read GD&T and specifications, and inspect with bore and thread gauges.

You’ll support quality sessions and MRB investigations, with opportunity to grow into a leadership role within the Inspection Department.

Qualifications

• You must be a time-served apprentice with NVQ Level 3 as a minimum.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and specifications.
• Fully trained in the use of CMM equipment and able to create inspection programs.
• MCOSMOS experience is beneficial; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• In-process and final inspection using CMM equipment and MCOSMOS.
• Inspect products with bore gauge and thread gauge and read GD&T.
• Support MRB investigations and quality sessions to improve knowledge.
• Opportunity to progress into a leadership role within the Inspection Department.

About the opportunity

SG Instruments Ltd is currently recruiting a CMM Inspector based at one of our bespoke Engineering facilities in Tameside. As an Inspector you will be responsible for both in process inspection and final inspection, operating CMM machines using MCOSMOS software. You’ll also inspect our products using conventional instruments such as bore gauge and thread gauge. Ideally, you will have some programming knowledge/experience.

You’ll also use your experience to support internal driven quality sessions in order to improve the knowledge base of our skilled operators and support Material Review Boards/non-conformance investigations when required.

You will be passionate about Quality standards and be willing to learn and grow through the business.

Essential Skills

• You’ll be fully trained in the use of CMM equipment.
• Create, edit, and run CMM inspection programs.
• Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings, GD&T & specifications.
• You’ll be qualified to minimum City and Guilds.

Desired Skills

• Experience of using MCOSMOS software (though not essential as training will be given).
• Some offline programming experience would be beneficial.
• Experience in Quality Control and Calibration is advantageous.
• Experience performing FAIR (First Article Reporting) is advantageous.
