Job summary

Hyde Group is seeking a CMM Inspector for our Stockport (Cheshire) site to join the quality team within the machining business. The role involves inspecting parts at various stages and communicating non-conformities to operators.

The successful candidate will read 3D models and 2D drawings, work with CMM software (Camio preferred), and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while understanding AS9100 and QMS requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience reading 3D models and 2D drawings aligned to aerospace standards.
• Background in quality inspection with CMM systems experience.
• Familiarity with QMS and AS9100 requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect parts at 1st off, in-process and final inspection stages and FAIRs.
• Provide timely feedback on detected non-conformities to operators.
• Identify training needs and assist with technical queries as required.
• Drive continuous improvements and support corrective actions.

Job description

We are looking to appoint a CMM Inspector with industry knowledge and aerospace experience to work as part of our quality team within our machining business at our Stockport (Cheshire) site.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect jobs at various stages of the machining inspection process: 1st off, final inspection and FAIR inspection in line with customer requirements.
• Provide machine operators with timely feedback on product non‑conformities.
• Highlight any training needs to supervisors and assist with technical queries.
• Seek out and drive continuous improvements to identify and resolve issues within your control; contribute to wider continuous improvement activities.

Preferred Skills

• Excellent communications skills.
• Good team working ethic, highly pro‑active and motivated.
• Ability to read and interpret 3D models & 2D drawings.
• Experience in a CMM software (Camio preferred; other systems accepted).
• Excellent customer facing skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Solid engineering background.
• Good understanding of the quality management systems (QMS) in the aerospace/automotive industry.
• Understanding of AS9100.
• FAIRS process experience preferred.
• Experience with various inspection tools and ability to understand inspection reports.
• Good understanding of inspection and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience of CNC machining is preferred.
• IT literate, especially SAP, Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills; Lean/Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours if required.
