Job summary

Amazon in the United Kingdom is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to help deploy, manage, fix and reinvent software tools that support the AWS network. You will work in an Agile environment with the most advanced tools and talented people to make the Cloud a reality.

As a SysDE you will identify and solve challenging issues, design and implement new software components, and perform root cause analysis to improve operational efficiency across services.

Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Relevant experience in software development, systems engineering, SRE or DevOps roles.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle.
• Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, HTTP).
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (host networking, storage, Linux OS).

Responsibilities

• Identifying and solving challenging systems, process and tooling issues to make things better for our customers
• Designing and implementing entire new software components, products or services which improve operational efficiency
• Investigating technical issues thoroughly, performing root cause analysis, identifying changes to procedures and systems and implementing long term fixes to avoid repeating issues.
• Providing solutions to technically challenging real business problems in a global organization
• A SysDE will proactively identify areas to invent, refine, and develop automation and tools to reduce manual operations across teams
