Job summary

AWS EMEA SARL (UK Branch) is seeking a System Development Engineer to build and operate software that underpins the world’s largest cloud network. You’ll maintain and improve services end-to-end, focusing on automation, testing, and rapid deployments in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

You will collaborate with network engineers and software teams to innovate tooling and approaches that scale across regions, while ensuring reliability and operational excellence in AWS’s infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
• Relevant experience in software development, systems engineering, SRE or DevOps roles.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (host networking, storage, Linux operating systems).

Responsibilities

• Identify and solve challenging systems, process and tooling issues to improve customer outcomes.
• Design and implement new software components, products or services to boost operational efficiency.
• Investigate issues thoroughly with root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
• Provide solutions to technically challenging business problems in a global organisation.
