Job summary

iO Associates are looking for an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to support a major secure cloud transformation programme within the UK public sector. London (Hybrid) offers £400 to £450/day outside IR35 on a 12-month contract. Active SC Clearance required and ASAP start.

You will design, implement and manage networking for a Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) environment, delivering secure, resilient infrastructure for mission-critical services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and supporting complex cloud or hybrid networking environments.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud networking concepts, including VPCs and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience with Kubernetes networking (GKE) and service mesh technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work within secure or highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement resilient cloud and hybrid network architectures.
• Configure secure site-to-site connectivity, VPNs and private interconnects.
• Manage VPCs, routing, peering and IP address management (IPAM).
• Deploy and maintain load balancing and private DNS solutions.
• Design and secure Kubernetes (GKE) networking, including network policies, private control planes and Istio Service Mesh.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance using flow logs and observability tooling.

Note: Candidates must be eligible for UK SC clearance, which requires a minimum of five years UK residency.
