Our growing team operates across cloud and infrastructure technologies, and we are expanding our engineering capability with a focus on VMware and Microsoft Azure VMware Solution (AVS).

This role is centered around delivering specialized projects and outcomes, which will evolve regularly. It is not an operational support role – every project will present unique challenges, ensuring variety and ongoing professional development.

Innovation is at the core of what we do, so you will be working with cutting-edge VMware technologies alongside Microsoft Azure VMware Solution, leveraging both open-source and proprietary tools.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

As a VMware Engineer within Capgemini’s dynamic cloud platform team, you will play a key role in delivering innovative cloud and infrastructure solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Migrating Workloads to Cloud – Working as part of a specialist team to migrate application workloads to Microsoft Azure VMware Solution (AVS) or other public cloud platforms, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
2. Platform Modernisation – Assisting clients in modernising their infrastructure by transitioning from legacy VMware environments to scalable and cost-effective Azure AVS solutions.
3. Public Cloud Deployment – Collaborating with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams, providing deep expertise in VMware technologies and Microsoft Azure for optimized deployment, automation, and orchestration.
4. Optimising VMware Platforms – Enhancing resilience, availability, monitoring, automation, and security across Azure AVS, on-premises VMware environments, and hybrid cloud solutions using both native cloud tools and third-party technologies.

Skills and experience we seek:

• Deep VMware expertise, particularly in VMware Aria Suite, VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware vSphere, and VMware vSAN.
• Strong understanding of VMware networking and security, with hands-on experience in VMware NSX-T for software-defined networking and security implementation.
• Microsoft Azure expertise, especially with Azure VMware Solution (AVS) and integrating VMware workloads into Azure cloud environments.
• Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure, with knowledge of AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in addition to Azure.
• Understanding of DevOps methodologies, with experience working in agile squads and utilizing CI/CD automation for infrastructure deployment.
• Ability to interact effectively with team members and clients, develop documentation, and present professionally.

To be successfully appointed, you must obtain SC clearance, which requires residing continuously in the UK for the last 5 years, among other criteria.
