Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions Nottingham is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to help operate and evolve cloud-based database platforms hosted in AWS. You will collaborate with platform engineers to deliver reliable, scalable services and advance automation across the data platform.

The role emphasizes performance tuning, security, backup and disaster recovery, and continuous improvement through Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in database engineering or related infrastructure engineering role.
• Experience with AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Aurora, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Experience with IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Linux administration and scripting (Python).
• Version control with Git.
• Knowledge of security best practices in platform design and operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and evolve highly available cloud database platforms hosted in AWS.
• Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges with engineers.
• Monitor, analyse, and optimise database and platform performance.
• Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
• Support backup, recovery and business continuity.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve platform performance, stability, and security.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
