Job summary

Sky is seeking a Cloud/AI Platform Operations Engineer to join the Group AI Engineering team. The role focuses on running production AI services reliably, securely, and cost-effectively, owning the platform and deployment pipelines.

The position can be based in Livingston Watermark or Osterley, with hybrid working and potential on-call responsibilities in the future. You’ll work with AWS-experienced teams and Docker/Kubernetes environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or production support.
• Experience supporting production systems in a cloud environment (AWS preferred; Azure/Google Cloud also considered).
• Knowledge of CI/CD, source control, deployment automation, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with Docker and exposure to Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of Linux, networking, APIs, identity, secrets, and cloud security.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Working knowledge of Python, with ability to read code, troubleshoot, and write automation scripts.
• Strong communication and incident management skills; able to explain technical issues to business audiences.
• Comfortable working in an Agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure for production AI services.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Operate containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, or similar platforms.
• Monitor system health, investigate incidents, and improve reliability for infrastructure and AI service signals.
• Act as frontline contact for AI service issues, keeping stakeholders informed during triage and resolution.
• Support Python services through log analysis, troubleshooting, and basic code changes.
• Manage access, secrets, dependencies, vulnerabilities, and security findings per Sky standards and AI governance.
• Monitor costs and identify efficiency improvements across teams and workloads.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to support applications using large language models and external data sources.
• Maintain operational documentation, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks.
• On-call cover may be required in future to keep critical services running.
