Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust seeks a Clinical Technologist to join the Clinical Engineering Department in Leicester. The role covers repair, calibration and maintenance of a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment across the three hospital sites.

The post holder will conduct preventative maintenance, safety and acceptance testing, with documentation and quality system adherence, supporting safety and uptime across Leicester University Hospitals.

Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC in Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience servicing and repairing medical devices in healthcare environments.
  • Safety-conscious approach and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, calibration and maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Technologist to join the Clinical Engineering Department at University Hospitals of Leicester. The role involves repair, calibration, and maintenance to a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment across Leicester University Hospitals. The post holder will carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration and safety testing and acceptance testing on a wide range of simple and complex medical equipment and devices, with minimal day to day direction by the line manager. The post holder is required to work to high standards of safety and accountability, maintain accurate and detailed technical records and operate within an accredited Quality System. The candidate will be required to be flexible and work across the 3 main hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital). There may also be occasions when the candidate will be asked to support other sites that the clinical engineering department are contracted to support across Leicestershire., Clinical Engineering is primarily concerned with providing repair, calibration, and maintenance to a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment across Leicester University Hospitals. It is the responsibility of Clinical Engineering to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely with a minimum of downtime. Clinical equipment covered incorporates electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer software and medical gas systems. The post holder will carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration and safety testing and acceptance testing on a wide range of simple and complex medical equipment and devices, with minimal day to day direction by the line manager. The post holder is required to work to high standards of safety and accountability, maintain accurate and detailed technical records and operate within an accredited Quality System.

Applicants must be qualified to Degree/HNC level, or equivalent, in Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering. With demonstrable experience of servicing and repair of medical devices within healthcare environments. You will have a safety conscious approach to your work and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels. An ability to cope under pressure, be adaptable and multi-task is required.
