Clinical Team Leader - Community Mental Health

An opportunity has arisen to join Queens Park and Paddington Community Mental Health Hub (CMHH) as a Clinical Team Lead.

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse/OT to join the team to work in the community with Adults with mental health needs and support the team with the day to day running of a busy mental health service.

The role is suitable for nurses/OT's who have experience in working in the community and for someone seeking to develop their leadership and management skills.

Please note that this role requires successful candidates to be able to engage in Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training, including the use of force techniques and the ability to attend resuscitation training and perform CPR. This is because of the high-acuity nature of the ward/community environment and the need to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. The role is conditional upon candidates being able to engage in TMVA training and resus training during the course of their employment whilst undertaking this role.

Main duties of the job

As Clinical Team Lead you will be accountable for the day-to-day management of the Hub, overseeing referral, assessment, allocation and discharge pathways to ensure timely, intervention-led, evidence-based and person-centred care.

You will hold a small clinical caseload, delivering and supporting multidisciplinary interventions, chairing MDT meetings and leading on risk assessment, safeguarding and crisis planning in line with Trust policy.

Working closely with the Hub Manager, you will drive service governance through audit, quality-improvement initiatives and performance-data audit, and ensure compliance with CQC standards.

You will also support the management of operational functions such as incident investigations, complaints and escalations. You will provide supervision, appraisals and professional development for the team, and oversee recruitment, induction and training.

You will collaborate with inpatient wards, Home Treatment Teams, primary care, social services and voluntary sector partners to ensure seamless care pathways and drive ongoing service improvement.

Person Specification

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional qualification either Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy.
• Evidence of Post Qualification Training relevant to Post.
• Leadership and management qualification/training
• Relevant post qualification/training, e.g. psychosocial intervention, counselling, professional nurse advocator training
• Sensory integration training

Experience

• Experience of working in a mental health community setting
• Experience of working with people experiencing psychosis.
• A team player with experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and with multiple agencies; statutory or voluntary, or service providers on a range of patient care issues
• Experience of staff supervision and appraisal.
• Teaching/mentoring professional staff group.
• Experience of leading and/or developing a service/component of a service.
• Experience of effective partnership working, with internal and external providers, in promoting socially inclusive opportunities for service users.
• Experience in managing a complex caseload- care planning and risk management.
• Experience in managing complex HR issues with staff e.g. the management of performance / long term sickness
• Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within a mental health setting.
