We welcome applicants eager to make a difference and join the dedicated team on Ward 6. Ward 6 is a busy, 35-bed medical ward specializing in stroke and frail elderly care. It also includes a 5-bed Acute Stroke Unit.
Our team prides itself on exceeding patient and family expectations, and we are committed to your personal and professional development. Newly appointed staff will undergo a 6-month probationary period, including bank staff, to familiarize themselves with the role and environment.
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal. We also have community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer general hospital services, emergency departments, critical and coronary care units, and consultant-led services. WGH provides general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and outpatient services for non-life-threatening conditions.
All hospitals provide planned care, including outpatient diagnostics, therapies, day cases, and inpatient surgery. Community services are delivered in people's homes, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals, and main hospitals, aiming to support independence and health management.
