Job summary

NCIC in Whitehaven is seeking a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker (Outpatients) for 24 hours per week. The role covers a variety of clinics, including Colorectal, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Renal, respiratory, Urology, ENT, across WI/WCH/WCDC sites.

You will assist under indirect supervision, support patients and carers, and use extended skills as directed by the lead nurse. Eligibility includes GCSEs and National Care Cert, with NVQ3 or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English & Maths or equivalent; National Care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of induction, and an NVQ 3 in care or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a customer focused / caring environment.
  • Willingness to complete induction and training and work across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Set up/close down the various speciality clinics; apply extended skills such as venepuncture, ECG recording, basic observations, BM monitoring, Spirometry.
  • Assist with nursing care under indirect supervision and provide information to patients and carers.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to Trust values at all times.

Job overview

Band 3 Clinical Support Worker - 24 hrs per week

The band 3 will be generic to cover a variety of speciality clinics namely, Colorectal, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Renal, respiratory, Urology, ENT.

The post holder will be flexible across WI/WCH/WCDC to cover service need.

You will work with indirect supervision under the Registered Nurse; assisting with nursing care and providing information and assistance to the patient, their relatives and carers. You will also utilise acquired skills gained from an extended role as directed by the lead clinical nurse of the department.

Applicants will possess GCSE English & Maths or equivalent; National Care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of induction process, and an NVQ 3 in care (willingness to complete within one year of start date) or equivalent experience. You will also have experience of working in a customer focused / caring environment.

Main duties of the job

The CSW will be expected to set up/ close down the various speciality clinics have extended skills eg, venepuncture, ECG recording, basic Observations, BM monitoring, Spirometry.
