Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Support Worker (Band 3) for ophthalmology. The 25-hour post supports the nursing team, delivering fundamental care and ensuring patient comfort across Cumberland Infirmary sites.

The role includes care duties, certificate completion, and cross-site shifts, with DBS and eligibility considerations in line with policy. Opportunity to join a dedicated surgical team in a trusted NHS setting.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent in patient/clinical care duties; knowledge of data protection and health & safety.
  • National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of starting employment.
  • Numeracy and literacy level 2.
  • Undertaken relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the registered nursing team in providing fundamentals of care to patients.
  • Contribute to care and comfort as part of the ophthalmology department.
  • Cross-site working and day shifts according to rota.

Clinical Support Worker Band 3, 25 hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in Ophthalmology. We are a specialist surgical department caring for patients with a variety of eye conditions. You will be welcomed into a friendly team with a variety of tasks to fill your day.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work in support of the registered nursing team in providing fundamentals of care for our patients. You will be expected to undertake the care certificate to enhance your knowledge and the care that you provide.

The role requires staff to work days and cross site.

Qualifications
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations knowledge of data protection legislation and health and safety at work legislation
  • National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
