Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Support Worker to join the ENT outpatient team. You will provide high-quality clinical and non-clinical support to doctors and nurses, helping ensure patient-centred care during outpatient clinics and follow-ups.

The role includes pre-operative assessments, documentation, infection prevention, and maintaining a safe clinic environment in line with Trust policies.

Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Clinical Support Worker will work as part of the multidisciplinary Ear Nose Throat (ENT) outpatient team, providing high-quality clinical and non-clinical support to medical and nursing staff to ensure the effective delivery of patient-centred care.

You will assist doctors and nurses during ENT outpatient clinics, including microsuction, acute ENT clinics, post-operative rhinology and otology follow-ups, head and neck clinics, and tracheostomy change procedures.

The role involves undertaking delegated clinical tasks in line with training and competency, including pre-operative assessments, recording and monitoring patient observations, and performing MRSA screening in accordance with Trust infection prevention and control policies.

Main duties of the job

Prepare clinical areas prior to clinics, ensuring all equipment, instruments, and consumables are available and fit for use.

Support patients before, during, and after consultations and procedures, maintaining dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.

Undertake delegated duties in accordance with Trust policies, local procedures, and individual competency assessments.

Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with Trust and NHS standards.

You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and well‑organised clinical environment by checking, cleaning, stocking, and maintaining equipment and consumables, ensuring all equipment is available, functional, and ready for use.

Monitor and report any concerns regarding patient condition, equipment, or clinic safety to registered staff promptly.
