Clinical Support Worker - Theatres East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust Stevenage

Job overview

We are recruiting for Clinical Support Workers - Theatres who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You must be 18+ to undertake this post.

You will work alongside Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners, get Theatre ready, making sure the correct equipment is available while maintaining a sterile environment. You will assist the registered practitioner, ensuring excellent patient care is given, that align with our trust values.

This role could see you work in any of the Theatre areas, both at the Lister or QE2. You would help in setting up your allocated Theatre, making sure all the equipment needed for the day is ready and available.

You will also be trained in the Pre-Op area, where you will take basic patient observations, and stay with them until they are called to Theatre. We also have vacancies available as CSW in Pre Op area only.

Main duties of the job

The role in Pre Op will include supporting the health-screening and early optimisation programme before the patient’s scheduled elective admission and surgery and working closely with the unit manager to continue to move the service forward.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a virtual information and guidance session.

The Maths and English assessment will take place on Monday 7th September 2026. The assessment day is in person only. Interviews will take place at a later date.
