Overview

The Community Dental service has an exciting opportunity for a clinical support worker. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for working with vulnerable and medically complex patients. As an award winning service we offer high quality dental care to people who are unable to access a 'high street' NHS dentist, due to their additional needs. The post holder will use the dental services clinical system to book patients, liaise with other stakeholder such as dental laboratories, interpreters, patient transport etc. as well as provide administrative support to our Consultants, Specialists, Dentists and Dental Therapists.

There will be the opportunity to enhance your skills to enable you to support our clinicians when using our dental clinical system. The Community Dental Service provides mandatory training and supervision, which will support your progression within the service. We provide a varied and competency based induction programme to support you in your development within the service.

We have seven sites across Bradford and Airedale. Travel across the district is a requirement of the role in order to successfully undertake the range of duties specified within the job description. Therefore, it is essential that applicants have the ability to travel across the district as and when required to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Main duties of the job

To provide and co-ordinate an efficient customer focused reception service to include a range of secretarial, clerical and administrative duties to support the dental clinical team.

Person Specification
Experience
  • A broad experience of secretarial, administration and clerical tasks & procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills with previous direct contact with customers both by telephone and face to face.
  • Experience of work in dental and or medical environment, with a broad knowledge and understanding of medical and dental terminology
  • Experience in a busy office environment and can demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Experience of working in General Dental Practice
  • The collection of patient charges/accounting procedures
Qualifications
  • RSA 2 Typing/Word Processing or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematic or equivalent
  • RSA 3 Typing/Word processing or equivalent
  • Customer Service Qualification
Knowledge
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft packages including Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of the NHS
