Job summary

The Lancaster Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Clinical Specialist in Physiotherapy (MSK) for 22.5 hours per week. The role is permanent with a salary up to £40,000 FTE dependent on experience and qualifications.

You will lead MSK services, provide expert assessment and treatment for complex cases, supervise staff, and collaborate with surgeons and GPs to ensure integrated patient care.

Qualifications

• HCPC-registered Physiotherapist.
• Significant post-registration MSK experience.
• Postgraduate MSK qualification or advanced MSK training.
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert MSK assessment and evidence-based treatment for complex cases.
• Develop tailored rehabilitation plans using clinical reasoning and manual therapy.
• Act as clinical lead for MSK therapy services and support other clinicians.
• Collaborate with orthopaedic consultants, GPs and other health professionals.
• Supervise, mentor and educate physiotherapists and students.
• Maintain high standards of clinical documentation per HCPC and CSP.

Salary: Up to £40,000.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Lancaster Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Clinical Specialist to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department.

This is a part time role for 22.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include

• Provide expert MSK assessment and evidence-based treatment for patients with complex, chronic, or post-surgical conditions.
• Develop tailored rehabilitation plans using advanced clinical reasoning, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, and pain management strategies.
• Act as the clinical lead for MSK therapy services, providing guidance and support to other clinicians in complex case management.
• Work closely with orthopaedic consultants, sports medicine specialists, GPs, and other allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
• Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical education to physiotherapists, therapy assistants, and students.
• Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping and documentation, in line with HCPC, CSP, and organisational requirements.
• Keep up to date with emerging MSK research, innovations, and clinical guidelines.

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

• HCPC-registered Physiotherapist.
• Significant post-registration experience with a strong focus on MSK practice.
• Postgraduate qualification or recognised advanced MSK training.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience in supervising staff or contributing to service development.
• Minimum 4 years MSK experience.
