Job summary

University of Hertfordshire’s HML School seeks a Laboratory Manager - Clinical Skills and Simulation to lead the technical team and oversee teaching spaces in Health areas. You will support students across Adult, Child, Mental Health and other nursing disciplines, assisting practical classes, projects, workshops, and short courses.

You will manage maintenance, operation and procurement of specialist equipment, ensure health and safety compliance, and provide expert advice on new capital

Qualifications

• Experience in clinical simulation in a technical role.
• Experience managing technical staff.
• Experience managing resources.
• Educated to HND/Degree/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant science subject.
• Strong health and safety knowledge in a clinical or clinical simulation context.
• Able to communicate with students, external contacts, and academic/technical colleagues.
• Methodical, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical team and oversee teaching spaces in Health areas.
• Support students in practical classes, projects, workshops, short courses, and consultancy work.
• Manage maintenance and operation of teaching/research equipment and teaching spaces.
• Oversee procurement, storage, usage and reporting of specialist equipment; advise on new capital equipment purchases.
• Advise on health and safety; ensure compliance with regulations and codes of practice.
