Job summary

Philips London is seeking a Clinical Scientist MR to support research collaboration activities across UK sites as part of a Europe-wide team. The role focuses on MR research leadership and activities to shape Philips MRI products for the future.

You will run MR scans, develop sequences, interact with scientists and clinicians, and represent Philips at conferences. Fluent English and willingness to travel nationally are required; PhD in a technical field is preferred.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity to support research collaboration activities across multiple UK&I sites, working as part of a Europe-wide team of Philips Clinical Scientists. The role is based in London.

Participate in pioneering research projects in close cooperation with our partners and help to shape Philips MRI products of the future. Your role:
  • Local customer support
  • Management of research collaborations with Philips at multiple partner sites, identifying and supporting projects of mutual value to customers and Philips; liaising when necessary with legal teams for research agreement administration; providing scientific leadership in MR as part of the wider Philips Clinical Science team in Europe; managing customer expectations; harvesting knowledge to benefit Philips; liaising between local sites and international luminary networks.
  • Interacting with Clinical Scientists, academics and clinical staff to provide first-line support for research related questions on customer sites, and signpost within Philips for further queries.
  • Contributing to academic papers by actively participating in customer research projects on supported sites. You will be involved in various MR projects including MR methods development and clinical research.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and representing their perspectives within Philips.
Local Philips organisation support
  • Maintaining knowledge of roadmap and research developments, both within and external to Philips in order to support the Sales process, and assist with technical demonstrations and customer visits.
  • Assisting in delivery of clinical training programs. E.g.: support of Applications training; technical presentations for User Group meetings; vendor portfolio presentations at scientific meetings.
  • Assisting in local troubleshooting - liaising with Engineering/Applications.
  • Communicating to wider Philips Precision Diagnosis team members the value that Philips MR Clinical Science working with customers brings to the business.
Your competencies
  • Be able to run Philips' MR scanners independently, performing scans.
  • Capacity to program for research applications: pulse sequences, image reconstruction, post-processing analysis.
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of Philips MR technology through in-person attendance to Philips internal Clinical Science meetings, and other interactions with scientists within Philips.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of innovations in MR, through national and international conference attendance, and discussion with key research leaders.
Your worldwide Clinical Science impact
  • Transferring knowledge about customer clinical needs and conclusions of customer research to Philips, ensuring impact for Philips by motivating appropriate action.
  • Providing clinical/technical feedback to the MR Business based in Best, NL.
  • Offering strategic support in areas of expertise to the MR Business product development and clinical science teams.
  • Representing Philips at conferences and professional bodies and establishing a global network of contacts in the scientific MR community.
You are a part of:

A team of Philips Clinical Scientists working across Europe, and a global community of Philips Clinical Scientists. This diverse community of experts collaborates to increase our impact for our customers and for Philips. You will report to the Clinical Science Lead in Philips' Europe-North region. You will form strong links with the local Philips MR team in UK&I including Clinical Scientists, Sales Specialists, Applications Specialists, Account Managers and others.

You're the right fit if you have the following skills and experience:
  • Ph.D. degree in physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering or other relevant technical background.
  • Doctoral thesis or series of scientific publications on MR related topic(s).
  • Curious and passionate about Magnetic Resonance.
  • Interested in working in the clinical environment.
  • Programming experience is preferable.
  • Available to travel nationally and occasionally abroad.
  • Enthusiasm to work collaboratively, even when remote.
  • Social skills (e.g. interaction with customers, other departments, sales organization).
  • Proven ability to present scientific and clinical information to a range of audiences (clinical/technical/managerial).
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written.
Compensation & benefits

Doing meaningful work should come with fair, transparent rewards. The base salary range for this role is £ 49,140.00 - £ 77,220.00.
