Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible Clinical Research Practitioner to join our dynamic research team at The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of clinical trials in the Trust, making a real impact on patient care and the future of healthcare.

Reporting to the Senior Research Nurse, you'll provide comprehensive administrative and clinical support, working hands‑on on several portfolio studies. This role offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop your skills in clinical research, and gain valuable experience in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Possessing a good understanding of clinical research and the legislation governing clinical trials is essential, as is a commitment to our Trust values: where we put the interests of our patients first and foremost using our values, Compassion, Inclusive and Respectful.

Please note: This role does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship under the current UK immigration rules, which set specific salary and skill thresholds. As such, we are unable to provide sponsorship for this post. Applicants will therefore need to already have the right to work in the UK to be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously and manage a caseload of clinical trial participants whilst working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Maintain effective communication with people who use our services, carers and professionals to ensure high quality service delivery.
  • Identify suitable individuals for entry into clinical trials.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of participants events in progress notes.
  • Ensure people who use our services are fully informed prior to entry into clinical trial programmes.
  • Provide ongoing information, education and support to participants (and their significant others) regarding clinical trials.
  • Ensure that trial specific investigations are undertaken as required by the trial protocol and obtain results in order to establish eligibility and safety to enter the trial.
  • Act as a primary contact point for the trial participant.
  • Maintain accurate participants' trial documentation, complete Case Report Forms, including the use of electronic data capture systems and ensure relevant information is recorded in participants’ notes.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other clinical procedures as required by trial protocols, ensuring the safe handling, storage and transportation of samples.
