The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Practice Facilitator for Midwifery on a fixed-term maternity leave contract. The role focuses on developing and overseeing midwifery placements for pre-registration midwives and Return to Practice learners, with strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and a learning culture.
You will work closely with the Trust education team, ward managers, PMAs and HEIs, supporting student interviews, skills days, and transition to practice.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to join the Midwifery Education Team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. The Clinical Practice Facilitator for Midwifery will be responsible for developing, supporting and overseeing midwifery placements for pre-registration midwives, return to practice midwives, those undertaking the shortened midwifery course and allied health student placements.
To support, educate and develop clinical staff, supervisors, assessors, and students in line with the standards for student supervision and assessment (SSSA) guidelines you will need to possess excellent evidence-based midwifery knowledge and skills.
You will encourage the development of a learning culture where both supporting pre-registration education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice. To achieve this you will work closely with the Trust education team, ward managers, specialist midwives, Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMAs) and senior leadership team. The role requires a close working relationship with our link universities, undertaking student interviews, skills days, and student forums. Supporting the transition of students to preceptorship band 5 midwives will be an important focus area.
The role requires strong organisational skills, a passion for nurturing lifelong learning and the ability to provide pastoral support.
Please note this is a fixed term contract for maternity leave, weekday hours only, and in addition has manager on call responsibilities (approximately 2 on-calls per month including nights and weekends).
