Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) seeks qualified or soon-to-qualify pharmacy technicians to join the acute hospital pharmacy team at Colchester Hospital. The role spans dispensaries (inpatient, oncology and outpatient) and ward-level clinical duties, with a focus on patient-centred medicines management.

You will work as part of a flexible, multidisciplinary team, following procedures and contributing to safe medication handling.

Qualifications

• Qualified, registered pharmacy technician or due to qualify this year.
• Ability to work flexibly, be a team player and adapt to change.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train other pharmacy department colleagues.
• Provide dispensing, counselling and near patient services in various dispensaries including inpatient, oncology and outpatient dispensaries.
• Act as an Accredited Checking Technician performing checking duties within the dispensary and recording dispensing errors using the local error reporting system.
• Work clinically on a rotational basis at ward level, delivering patient-centred medicines management and pharmaceutical care.
• Minimise medicines-related risk and ensure medication safety in line with local and national guidance.
• Support senior pharmacy colleagues to highlight dispensary or ward issues to appropriate staff.
• Develop leadership skills by undertaking a team leader role.
