An established healthcare provider seeks a dedicated Pharmacist to join their clinical team. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills through rotations across various inpatient specialties. You'll engage in optimizing patient medications, collaborating with a technical team, and participating in departmental responsibilities. With a supportive environment for trainee pharmacists and experienced professionals alike, this position promises a fulfilling career path in a dynamic healthcare setting. If you're passionate about making a difference in patient care, this is the role for you.
We have an opportunity for a 1-year fixed-term position at our Royal Lancaster Infirmary site, located just minutes from the city centre.
Applications are welcomed from trainee pharmacists due to register shortly, as well as pharmacists with experience in other pharmacy disciplines, with training provided to support sector transition.
The successful candidate will join our ward-based clinical team and have opportunities to develop clinical skills through rotations in inpatient specialties such as cardiology, respiratory, orthopaedics, paediatrics, general surgery, and acute medicine. There are also department-based specialist roles including aseptic, oncology, homecare, and clinical trials.
Using our trust-wide Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration system, you will collaborate with our technical team to review medicines reconciliations, optimize patient medications, and verify discharge prescriptions.
As part of the pharmacy team, you may occasionally serve as the responsible pharmacist in our automated dispensary and will participate in the weekend rota. Currently, band 6 Pharmacists are not required to take part in the on-call rota.
We operate across three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community health care facilities including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer comprehensive services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various consultant-led specialties. WGH provides general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and facilities for non-life-threatening conditions.
All hospitals provide outpatient, diagnostic, therapy, day case, and inpatient surgical services. Additionally, community outreach services and diagnostics are available across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are delivered in homes, community centers, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals, and main hospitals. Our goal is to support individuals in maintaining independence, improving health, and managing conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
