Job description

Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake a lead role of Rheumatology Specialist Nurse in an outpatient service. The post requires a motivated individual to work 37.5 hours a week within the rheumatology team employed by NNUH.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide clinical leadership and expertise in rheumatology, offering information, support, advice, and specialist knowledge to patients, families, and carers.
  2. Coordinate patient care to ensure continuity throughout the care pathway.
  3. Lead the review and development of the rheumatology service to meet patient needs.
  4. Deliver outpatient Rheumatology Specialist Nursing care, developing nurse-led protocols, guidelines, and initiatives.
  5. Collect audit data to facilitate quality improvement, service development, and meet national requirements.
  6. Provide education for patients with Rheumatology diseases.
  7. Work with local teams and ICB to develop evidence-based rheumatology services.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to service development and nurse-led initiatives in liaison with senior staff.
  • Assist in developing business plans to extend services.
  • Monitor performance against national standards like NSF and NICE.
  • Ensure policies meet national standards and trust objectives.
  • Assess and develop services to meet patient needs.
  • Identify and implement beneficial practice changes.
  • Deputise for senior colleagues when needed.
  • Review nursing practices to keep the service at the forefront of the specialty.
