Target Start Date: 10/6/2025
The surgical intensive care unit (SICU) provides care for critically ill patients requiring surgery or recovering from surgery. Patients may be too unstable for a regular nursing floor, or ICU-level monitoring may be necessary for specific procedures. The unit is managed by physicians with a surgical background.

Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, in accordance with national standards and institutional policies.
