For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for all eligible new graduates!

* Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a full or part-time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.

* Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation from employment.

Bean 5 is a high-paced 43-bed medical respiratory unit with an embedded 8-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), including an Assisted Ventilator Unit (AVU).

The patient population includes acute on chronic states, respiratory failure, complex vascular, general surgical, neuroscience conditions, sepsis, and multisystem organ failure.

RNs in the Bean 5 IMC/AVU demonstrate critical assessment and thinking skills, managing patients with multi-system issues requiring continuous monitoring, medications, interventions, and respiratory support, including ventilator management and weaning.

Working on Bean 5 offers experience in medical telemetry, IMC, and AVU, in a team focused on high standards of nursing care and excellent patient and family service.

This is a full-time day shift position, consisting of 3, 12-hour shifts per week.

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission by demonstrating excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, which may be provided across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current Maine RN license.
  • Experience: Entry-level position; prior RN experience not required; respiratory or IMC experience preferred; ventilator experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing principles and practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical skills for monitoring patient condition changes.
  • New graduate RNs (<6 months experience) are enrolled in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program. Exceptions may be considered for transfers with prior RN experience or participation in a formal orientation.
  • Eligibility for Clinical Nurse II advancement after 12 months based on performance.
