We are seeking Registered Nurses to join our newly created 40-bed medical-surgical unit, focusing on patients requiring a longer length of stay. This transitional care unit bridges various providers, services, and settings. Our interprofessional team includes geriatrics, nursing, providers, and activities teams, aiming to modify care plans to promote engagement in art, games, and socialization to preserve health and morale.
Our nurses, patient care technicians, and CNAs demonstrate strong analytical skills to identify patient needs, risks, and interventions. We prioritize excellent customer service to patients and families, considering their current health states and learning abilities. As a team, we excel in communication, effectively collaborating with healthcare professionals, hospital administration, patients, and families. This unit offers registered nurses a well-rounded, patient-focused opportunity within the MaineHealth system.
This position is a full-time night shift role, with 3, 12-hour shifts per week.
Position Summary
The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by exemplifying excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Following national nursing standards and Maine Medical Center policies, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care effects. Care begins with the initial contact with the healthcare system and may continue across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
* Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
* License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Maine.
* Experience: No prior RN experience required as this is an entry-level position.
* Basic knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and processes.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
* Analytical skills to identify changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate actions.
* Newly graduated RNs (less than 6 months of experience) hired into regular positions are automatically enrolled in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program. Exceptions may be considered for RNs with less than 1 year of experience transferring from another organization or participating in a formal orientation.
* According to the Clinical Nursing Advancement Program, a Clinical Nurse I who meets or exceeds all criteria at the 12-month review will be promoted to Clinical Nurse II by the Nursing Director.
