Job summary

Bridge McFarland LLP is seeking an experienced fee earner to join our Clinical Negligence Department based in Hull. You will manage all aspects of the caseload from instruction to settlement or trial, including pre- and post-litigation matters, delivering first-class service to clients.

Reporting to the Partner, you will liaise with clients, counsel, experts and third parties, maintain files, and ensure deadlines are met.

Qualifications

• Proven fee earning experience managing clinical negligence cases.
• Strong understanding of clinical negligence litigation.
• Excellent communication and client-care skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring deadlines are regularly updated and monitored.
• Maintaining accurate file management and meeting compliance requirements.
• Liaising with clients professionally and sensitively, keeping them updated on case progress.
• Managing expectations of clients, counsel, experts, and third parties.
• Attending meetings, conferences, and court hearings as required.
• Preparing legal documents, statements, and instructions to counsel and experts.
• Reviewing and analysing medical records and other essential evidence.
• Drafting schedules of loss and other key documents.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the department.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of clinical negligence law and procedures.
• Providing supervision and guidance to junior colleagues when required.
• Engaging proactively in business development and networking opportunities.
• Ensuring all case management system entries are kept accurate and up to date.
• Contributing to departmental targets and firmwide objectives.

Bridge McFarland LLP is looking to recruit an experienced fee earner to join our Clinical Negligence Department based in Hull.

We welcome applications from Legal Assistants, Paralegals, Litigation Executives, Legal Executives, or Solicitors, provided you have direct, practical experience running a caseload in this specialist area.
