Clayton Legal is seeking an experienced Clinical Negligence Fee Earner in Liverpool to manage a varied claimant caseload from instruction to conclusion. You will provide practical legal advice, keep clients informed, and work collaboratively with Counsel, the Courts and medical experts.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Clinical Negligence Fee Earner to join our growing Liverpool team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor or CILEX professional with experience in claimant Clinical Negligence work to take ownership of a varied caseload and play a key role in achieving positive outcomes for clients.

You'll manage your own caseload of Clinical Negligence matters, ranging in complexity and value, while working as part of a supportive and collaborative team. From initial instruction through to conclusion, you'll provide clear, practical legal advice and ensure clients receive an exceptional level of service throughout their case.

What you'll be doing

As a Clinical Negligence Fee Earner, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of your own caseload, including:

• Managing a varied caseload of claimant Clinical Negligence matters from instruction through to conclusion.
• Providing clear, practical, and timely legal advice to clients, ensuring they understand their options and the progress of their case.
• Conducting legal research and preparing correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documentation to a high standard.
• Working closely with clients, Counsel, the Courts, medical experts and other third parties to progress matters effectively.
• Attending client meetings, conferences with Counsel and, where appropriate, court hearings.
• Proactively managing key deadlines, limitation dates, and case milestones.
• Identifying and managing potential risks to ensure cases progress efficiently and in accordance with relevant procedures and regulations.
• Maintaining accurate, well-organised and compliant case files and ensuring case management systems are kept fully up to date.
• Contributing to file audits, risk assessments, and quality assurance processes.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, sharing knowledge, and supporting the development of others where appropriate.
• Taking on other reasonable duties as required by the Team Leader or management team.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent client care skills.

Ideally, you will have:

• Qualification as a Solicitor or CILEX professional, with around 2-6 years' PQE in Clinical Negligence.
• Proven experience managing your own claimant Clinical Negligence caseload.
• Experience handling matters of varying complexity and value.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A confident, approachable, and genuinely client-focused manner.
• High levels of empathy, professionalism and discretion when dealing with clients and sensitive issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and quality standards.
• Good IT skills and experience using case management systems.
• A genuine passion for Clinical Negligence and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
