Job summary

Yellow Practice in Walton-on-Thames is seeking a Healthcare Assistant/GP Assistant to provide clinical support and reception duties in a busy GP practice. Training is provided, with emphasis on phlebotomy, health checks and long-term condition monitoring.

The role offers variety between clinical care and administrative tasks, with opportunities for professional development and teamwork within primary care.

Qualifications

• The role requires a good general education with English and Maths or equivalent.
• Experience in healthcare or a recognised Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker qualification is preferred.
• Willingness to undertake training and competency assessments relevant to the role.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Carry out delegated clinical tasks including phlebotomy, BP/pulse monitoring, height/weight/BMI and ECGs.
• Conduct health checks and support long-term condition monitoring.
• Assist GPs and clinicians with delegated patient tasks and observations.
• Provide reception and administrative support with appointments and records.
• Carry out wound care, dressings and minor procedures where trained.
• Prepare clinical rooms, maintain equipment and stock levels.
• Offer chaperoning and assist during procedures as needed.
• Support recall, follow-up processes and patient correspondence.
• Follow infection control and safe waste disposal procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and report safety incidents.
